Rules & Etiquette

LOCAL RULES

In addition to the fixed rules of the Royal Golf Federation of Spain, in competitions the following Local Rules will apply:

1. - OUT OF BOUNDS (Rule 27-1):

            Marked by railings, stakes and white lines, metal fences and walls that surround the course. They include the angled extensions and the cables of hawthorn that form the fences in their upper parts. The lines prevail over the white stakes and the white stakes prevail over metal fencing.

            There are two Out Of Bounds within the course:

                        a. - between holes 7 and 8

                        b. - In the practice area, defined by white stakes to the left of holes 1, 6 and 9.

2. - INTEGRAL PARTS OF THE COURSE

            All paths and tracks except those that are cemented or concreted that are obstructions.

3.- MOVABLE  OBSTRUCTIONS: (Rule 24-1):

            - Stones in bunkers are moveable obstructions.

4.- IMMOVABLE OBSTRUCTIONS: (Rule 24-2):

            - Paths covered with cement or concrete

5.- WATER HAZARD – DROP ZONE HOLE 17:

            If a ball that has not been found is, or is known or believed to be in the water hazard situated in front of the 17th green (marked with yellow stakes), the player may:

Proceed according to Rule 26-1, or

As an additional option, drop a ball with a penalty stroke, in the drop zone marked by a yellow circle in front of the water hazard.

6.- DROP WITHOUT PENALTY

At staked trees

Plugged ball in any part of the course

Ground under repair - are marked with blue stakes and/or white lines

DRAINS. - It is deemed that drains that are not covered by turf, or with considerable gravel or sand in the same, is considered Ground Under Repair and relief may be taken.

7. - ELEVATED ELECTRICAL CABLES.-

            If a ball strikes an overhead electrical line, or elevated cable, the shot is void and should be played again without penalty (Rule 20-5).  If the ball is not immediately recoverable it may be replaced by another ball.

8.- USE OF MOBILE PHONES

            A) If during a stipulated round a players mobile phone rings because it has not been placed in silent mode it will be penalised with two penalty shots.

B) If a player delays his turn to play due to taking a mobile phone call will be an infringement of Rule 6-7, undue delay, and will be penalised with two penalty shots.

9.- LIST OF AUTHORISED DRIVER HEADS (Appendix 1 – Page 145-146)

            The “driver” used by players should have a head that appears in the List of Authorised Driver Heads, updated and published by R&A Rules Limited.  The penalty for the use of any other type of “driver” will be disqualification.

PENALTY FOR INFRINGEMENT OF LOCAL RULE 9: Disqualification

NOTE: All players are asked to respect the rules of etiquette: repair pitch marks, replace divots, rake bunkers etc….
